Choosing your family photo outfits.

Spring is here! It’s that time of the year when we’re all over the colder weather and the spring forward time change, while it makes us sleepy for about a week, gifts us with plenty of daylight to enjoy some outside time after work and school. This is also the time when flowers start blooming and grass gets greener. If you’re lucky enough to live in Texas then you know this means blue bonnets galore.

With multicolor blooms all over to serve as a background, spring time is a perfect opportunity to take family photos and today’s blog post will help you with two ways on how to pick out your whole family ensemble.

Matchy Matchy

Identical mother daughter and father son outfits may be a little 90s, but they’re also adorable, so we suggest you just go for it. Cinch and Roper are two brands that offer matching shirts for adults and kids.

Color scheme

Another way to outfit your family for photos is to choose a color scheme and work around it. Not everyone has to wear the same color. The point is for everyone to match as a whole.

For example, in the photos below the boy’s solid shirt brings out the red in the men’s shirt. The men’s shirt colors match the woman’s skirt, and the little girl’s dress soften’s everyone’s look by adding a solid piece in a lighter color.

For another example below, the man shirt and little girl’s dress match the little boy’s main color, and the woman’s dress brings out the small colored details of the man’s shirt.

Regardless of what you pick for your family, the most important factor is to stay true to who you are as a family. Don’t dress up super formal if you’re more laid back people. Don’t force smiles or poses that don’t reflect you. These photos should reflect who you are. After all their main objective is to create memories, and those memories should be true.

Pig Man, Boots and Valentine’s Day

If your significant other likes hunting, chances are you’ve heard of Pig Man. If you don’t hunt, chances also are that you pretend to know what he or she is talking about and nod a lot while he or she tells you all about it. There’s no better gift than to be able to share in something your significant other likes, except maybe some kickass boots but we’ll get to those later. With Valentine’s around the corner, our gift to you today is a quick guide to Pig Man and his greatness, so you can stop nodding along and feigning interest.

Pig Man? What?

His real name is Brian Quaca, but Pig Man is catchy and really cool. He’s been Pig Man photo shoot - March 2014 Brian Quaca. For TV.hunting his whole life, but since a young age showed a passion, talent and concern for the issue that were non-indigenous pigs in central Texas, where he grew up. Despite being an avid hunter of many species, pigs became his forte and as neighbors began enlisting his help with their pig problems, he earned the nickname of Pig Man.

Is that it?

No, not even close. It was his concern for this problem plaguing his hometown that led him to become a rifle smith. He was pretty good at it. Are you noticing a pattern yet?

His excellent skills as a riffle smith led people to ask him to lead their hunts, where they witnessed first hand yet another thing he was great at. Eventually, leading hunts became his primary job and his popularity earned him guest spots in a few tv shows before he was offered his very own show.
The popularity of his own tv show stretched throughout industries, from hunting gear to ready to
wear. He famously wore Tin Haul’s best selling boot “Gnarly Shark,” which sent the boot’s demandthrough the roof!  So much, that Tin Haul made and named the “Not Boaring” boot after him. Seriously, how cool is that?! (These boots are still available and are the perfect gift to any Pig Man aficionado, by the 41257_10395disp14238_30535dispway.)

At the end of 2014 Pig Man was critically injured in a car accident that left him with multiple skull fractures, severe facial lacerations, cracked ribs, a broken wrist, bleeding on the brain and major damage to his right eye. Despite what some would consider career ending injuries, Pig Man managed to make a come back, like a real one not like the Backstreet Boys’ kind, and is back on top. In June 2015 a two episode special “Pigman Rising” aired on the Sportsman Channel narrating his road back to recovery.

What does this have to do with Valentine’s day?

Oh yeah, that’s where we were going with this. A lot.

Garth Brooks Sevens by Cinch

Garth Brooks and Cinch are teaming up! Actually, they already have.

Last week, during the WESA Market in Denver, buyers had the first chance to get a sneak peek at Cinch’s new line “Garth Brooks Sevens by Cinch” debuting in stores this fall.

Cinch has gained it’s good reputation based on their high quality shirts and great fitting denim that offers a wide range of fits and washes, which guarantees everyone can find something they like at affordable prices.

Garth Brook’s line will be up to part with all of Cinch’s quality clothing, but it will bear the country singer’s signature style, for which he has been known for decades.

As described by Cinch, “Designs come from Brooks’ stage-inspired styling and combine his high-energy on-stage presence with CINCH’s commitment to authentic western apparel. High-quality fabrics, ideal fit and unique western taste will be seen in all “Garth Brooks Sevens by CINCH” clothing. The shirts and jeans in the line are geared towards the core western lifestyle audience and all those who love the cowboy way. “

Cinch is not new to endorsements or partnerships. They endorse champs like Cody Ohl and Fred Whitfield, as well as other musicians like Curtis Grimes. And they have partnered with many organizations like All American Quarter Horse Congress and Colorado FFA Foundation.

But this, however, is Garth Brooks’ very first partnership of this nature. After so many years in the music industry, it makes sense for him to have chosen a name as well known as Cinch take on this endeavor.

The Garth Brook’s line “Garth Brooks Sevens by Cinch” will be sold at UrbanWesternWear.com, and it is scheduled to arrive in September 2016. We recommend you sign up for our e-mail list to be one of the first to get your hands on these pieces that will likely be a hit.

3.- Convenient and always made specifically for you. Having items picked out for you does not mean you get things that don’t match your style so that convenience doesn’t mean you have to give up style.

Great Ideas to Enhance Your Country and Western Themed Wedding

Most little girls grow up dreaming about the day of their perfect fairytale wedding. You may have had every little detail of that dream wedding planned out before you even hit middle school, but the likes and dislikes of everyone change as they grow up. Today, you are just as likely to see brides and grooms dressed up as super heroes for their big day rather than in the traditional white dress and tuxedo. Themed weddings are all the rage, and one with a country and western theme is among the most popular. If this type of wedding is on your wish list, then here are a few ideas that can help you make it just perfect.

Add Some Country Flavor to Your Big Day

• Skip the Chairs: Forget about renting those expensive chairs, and consider using square bales of hay or straw for seating the guests at your outdoor wedding. Be sure to only use fresh bales that have been kept dry and are free of mice, snakes and other creepy crawlies. Your guests will love it, and you can still use decorations at the end of each aisle for a fancy touch.

• Switch Up the Altar: A nice, old-fashioned horse hitching post is a great spot to say your vows. Make sure it’s polished to the perfect shine, and the bride and groom can stand before it while the ceremony is performed. It’s also a perfect spot for wedding photos.

• Ditch Those High Heels: Every bride should have the perfect wedding dress, but you don’t necessarily have to wear high-heeled shoes to complete the ensemble. Instead, go shopping for the fanciest cowgirl boots. You may find the perfect ones to go with your dress, or you can always decorate those boots for a better match.

• Special Cake Toppers: Skip the traditional figurines of the bride and groom on top of your wedding cake, and go with something to fit your theme. You’ll be surprised what is available, and you can easily find figurines that depict the groom using a lasso to catch his bride and other fun country and western ideas.

• Replace the Veil With a Hat: Believe it or not, the perfect cowgirl hat is out there. Fix it up to match your boots and dress, and you will be the perfect country and western bride.

• Choose a Special Location: Not everyone gets married inside of a church, and you can select the perfect spot for your country and western wedding. A very popular choice would be a rustic barn surrounded by acres of lush crops. Others choose a large field next to a clear-running stream.

• No Limos Here: A beautifully-decorated wagon and a couple of gorgeous white horses may deliver you and your wedding party to the designated area. Even the harness for the horses may be festooned with colorful ribbons to honor the festive occasion.

Start Planning Today

You can never get too early of a start on your wedding plans. If you’re doing all of the hard work yourself, then get busy with these tips today. Those using a wedding planner should find one that has some past experience with this type of a themed wedding, so that you can be assured of getting exactly what you want on your special day.

Three Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Buy Designer Western Jeans

designer western jeansMany people dread going shopping for jeans, especially given how styles and fits can vary so much. Men may be able to gauge their size by their waist and inseam measurements, but they often have to take different styles into account, like a relaxed fit or a skinny jean. For women, the process can be a bit trickier, as size charts can vary across brands and differences in style, rise, and fit can all contribute to difficulties when shopping.

Buying designer western jeans to get that perfect cowboy or cowgirl look is no different, but there are certain advantages to purchasing quality denim. Western wear is its own unique look derived from the clothing worn in the 19th century American West, and today it is found all over the world in cowboy hats, western style boots, and other western fashion accessories. And yes, this type of clothing also includes plenty of jeans.

Before you consider the purchase of designer western jeans, there are a few questions you should ask yourself. Don’t forget to answer these three inquiries as you figure out which jeans are right for you:

  • Why do you need to buy a pair of jeans? How and when you plan to wear a pair of jeans matters, especially if you’re shelling out for designer duds. If you’re planning to wear them for ranch work, a rodeo, or any other kind of physical activity, keep the quality of the jeans in mind. Many pairs of cowboy jeans fit close to the thigh so they don’t chafe while horseback riding, so if you need them for a similar purpose, make sure they’re the right cut.
  • Will you want to wear these jeans a few months or years from now? Fashion these days can be somewhat disposable, and most people have no qualms about giving up on a pair of jeans or another garment within a few months. But if a good pair of Ariat or Cinch jeans will an investment for you, then you’ll want to think carefully about your purchase. Will these jeans still be stylish a year from now? Are they something you can wear if your lifestyle changes or as the weather warms up or cools down?
  • What else will you wear with your jeans? Thinking about potential outfits is important when buying any piece of clothing. Although jeans are fairly versatile and can go with almost anything, you’ll still need to consider how they’ll work with certain garments. Can you only wear them with t-shirts or tank tops? Or can you pair them with dressy tops for work or going out? Take shoes into consideration, as well. If you have several pairs of cowboy boots, you’ll want bootcut jeans that will fit over your shoes or jeans that are narrow enough to be tucked into the boots.

Wyoming Deputy of 40 Years Retires After His Department Bans Western Fashion Accessories from Officer Uniforms

western fashion accessoriesCowboy hats and boots are probably considered some of the most beloved western fashion accessories in the United States. Yet apparently few people love them more than a former Wyoming deputy who quit his job after a new dress code banned the items.

That’s right: after the new Sublette County Sheriff took office in January, he ordered his staff to conform to stricter dress code standards. “We are one team with a unified purpose,” Sheriff Stephen Haskell told his local Casper Star-Tribune. Therefore, officers all need to look the same in a county described as no bigger than Connecticut by a department spokesperson who talked to the Los Angeles Times.

But that didn’t sit well with Deputy Gene Bryson, who had been with the department for 28 years and had worked in law enforcement for 40 years total. Bryson regularly wore a brown cowboy hat, brown cowboy boots, and a leather vest in the summer or a wool one in the winter, worn over his uniform. The new uniform dictates that officers can only wear black trousers, a tan shirt, black boots and (optionally) a black baseball cap.

Bryson admitted to reporters that the uniform change was “kind of the reason” why he decided to retire. His western clothes and accessories were his style, and something he felt represented deputies in Wyoming. In fact, when he first began in law enforcement, Bryson said that his first department in Lusk County didn’t even have uniforms. “We wore blue jeans, cowboy boots, western shirt, put a badge on our western shirt and went to work,” he said to KCWY 13 in Wyoming.

Considering that the department’s explanation was primarily about the safety of officers, their reasons are understandable. This news story does highlight the need to decide when western style hats, boots, and other clothing is appropriate (or when it isn’t).

Western fashion accessories are fairly easy to incorporate into other outfits, however. Cowboy hats, some of which can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, are considered perfectly acceptable in certain parts of the country as daily wear. Western style boots are perfect for casual outfits, though some types can be worn with formal wear if it’s not too showy (and permitted). Anyone who owns a pair, though, has to know how to take care of these boots. Finished leather, which has a shine to it, needs to be polished regularly. Even unfinished leather should be dusted regularly to keep it clean.

When are western fashion accessories and clothes appropriate or inappropriate to wear out? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
