4 Romantic Western Movies to Watch This Weekend.

Happy Valentine’s Week!

In honor of the love celebration taking place on Sunday, we’re giving you 4 romantic western/cowboy movies we love. I’m sure you have already purchased your significant other their gift, and if you have not then hop over to our website and get them a gift that will keep on giving for a few months.

We’ll give you a tiny synopsis just to peak your interest, but no worries, we promise no spoilers!

Giant

I mean, just a classic. The movie covers the story of two generations in a ranch in Texas, therefore it spans through decades and lasts over 3 hours. There’s love, there’s conflict, there’s death. You really can’t ask for much more.

The Man from the Snowy River

Maybe it’s the awesome theme song of the movie, maybe it’s that scene where Jessica runs to the fence in excitement in her full skirt and boots when she hears the horses coming, maybe it’s the fact that my dad and brother watched this movie over and over and over again while I was growing up in the 90s, but this movie is just good. Predictable? yes, but really what movie isn’t.

Anyways, in this Australian film Jim is forced to find a job to help him get his father’s ranch back on its feet, and during him and the girl he wishes to marry become involved in a 20 year old family feud. Kinda like Romeo and Juliet but with cowboy hats and hot Australian accents.

The Horse Whisperer

This sort of seems like your typical city girl meets country boy movie, but there is definitely more than that. Though there is a sort of love story in this plot, I would say that the bigger love story is that between the family and their horse. After a traumatic accident a family is encouraged to put down a horse that will likely never recover, but they refuse to do so without trying every last resort. Be prepared to feel the strong urge to run out to your barn and give your horse the biggest hug.

The Last Ride

This is a Nicolas Sparks movie and I feel like saying that is spoiler enough because most of his movies are the same, so I’ll leave it at that.

Now you have some good titles to cuddle up to on the couch after dinner this Sunday.

Pig Man, Boots and Valentine’s Day

If your significant other likes hunting, chances are you’ve heard of Pig Man. If you don’t hunt, chances also are that you pretend to know what he or she is talking about and nod a lot while he or she tells you all about it. There’s no better gift than to be able to share in something your significant other likes, except maybe some kickass boots but we’ll get to those later. With Valentine’s around the corner, our gift to you today is a quick guide to Pig Man and his greatness, so you can stop nodding along and feigning interest.

Pig Man? What?

His real name is Brian Quaca, but Pig Man is catchy and really cool. He’s been Pig Man photo shoot - March 2014 Brian Quaca. For TV.hunting his whole life, but since a young age showed a passion, talent and concern for the issue that were non-indigenous pigs in central Texas, where he grew up. Despite being an avid hunter of many species, pigs became his forte and as neighbors began enlisting his help with their pig problems, he earned the nickname of Pig Man.

Is that it?

No, not even close. It was his concern for this problem plaguing his hometown that led him to become a rifle smith. He was pretty good at it. Are you noticing a pattern yet?

His excellent skills as a riffle smith led people to ask him to lead their hunts, where they witnessed first hand yet another thing he was great at. Eventually, leading hunts became his primary job and his popularity earned him guest spots in a few tv shows before he was offered his very own show.
The popularity of his own tv show stretched throughout industries, from hunting gear to ready to
wear. He famously wore Tin Haul’s best selling boot “Gnarly Shark,” which sent the boot’s demandthrough the roof!  So much, that Tin Haul made and named the “Not Boaring” boot after him. Seriously, how cool is that?! (These boots are still available and are the perfect gift to any Pig Man aficionado, by the 41257_10395disp14238_30535dispway.)

At the end of 2014 Pig Man was critically injured in a car accident that left him with multiple skull fractures, severe facial lacerations, cracked ribs, a broken wrist, bleeding on the brain and major damage to his right eye. Despite what some would consider career ending injuries, Pig Man managed to make a come back, like a real one not like the Backstreet Boys’ kind, and is back on top. In June 2015 a two episode special “Pigman Rising” aired on the Sportsman Channel narrating his road back to recovery.

What does this have to do with Valentine’s day?

Oh yeah, that’s where we were going with this. A lot.
