When I’m helping out a tall friend, Roper clothing is my go-to recommendation. Why? They offer tall sizes from medium-tall (MT) to 5XT. That means Roper’s shirts, blazers, and vests come in dimensions to fit cowboys of any size.
Roper carries big and tall sizes in a variety of styles:
- Long-sleeve buttons downs
- Short-sleeve button downs
- Suede and leather vests
- Leather blazers
Shirts for the Tall Cowboy
Roper’s new Amarillo fit big and tall shirt, shown below in Wine, is a popular choice with taller guys — and with good reason. This shirt comes with a button-down collar, a one-point back yoke with a pleat and locker loop, and two one-point pockets with flaps. The two-button cuffs are adjustable. And of course, the sleeves and tail for sizes MT through 5XT are long enough to fit the taller man.
Roper also makes short-sleeved shirts in tall sizes. In fact, they’re one of the few Western wear companies that offers a short-sleeved tall size! Shown below is another Amarillo style shirt with a longer tail. Roper shirts are available in 100% cotton and a poly-cotton blend.
Try a Vest on For Size
Good news: Vests are back in style. I know because Chihuahua has started wearing them again (I never stopped). The Roper Big Man vests are flying off the shelves–and you’ll see them in a lot of groomsman photos this season in those “rustic-chic” weddings that are all the rage.
Roper’s brown Western vest is made of lamb touch Nappa leather. It has one-point front and back yokes and antique silver embossed snaps. This great-looking vest is fully lined and has single welt front pockets.
This big and tall black vest is in a similar style as the vest above, but it’s made out of silky cow suede. It’s a popular choice for Western special occasions!
Sophisticated Western Blazers
Need a fancier option? Don’t forget to pick up Roper’s Big Man’s Western blazer. This premium lamb skin leather blazer is fully lined. It has a two-button front, a notched collar and convertible flap to welt pockets.
Roper has a lot more big and tall choices in addition to my favorites above, and other brands have some good choices, too. It’s good news for all the tall cowboys out there — thanks to some of these companies, you can start buying some clothes that actually fit!
